Grow to Grow teens create custom plant arrangements for garden containers and window boxes. To create each arrangement, the teens first interview their customers to collect important information such as container size and location, as well as customer preferences and budget. After researching and selecting appropriate plants, the teens create unique designs tailored specifically to each customer. Throughout the process, they collaborate with their mentors to gain horticultural knowledge, but also learn important job skills:
- Communication and time management skills by contacting customers and coordinating with the customers and mentor to create interview and planting schedules.
- Interpersonal and customer service skills by interviewing customers to determine preferences for colors, textures, and specific plant types, as well as considerations such as container size and sun exposure.
- Critical thinking and decision making skills by selecting appropriate plants based on factors determined during the client interviews.
- Self-confidence and ability to take constructive criticism by successfully completing planting projects and ensuring that every customer is fully satisfied.
